Artificial Academy, and its sequel, Artificial Accademy 2, are erotic dating sims with the potential to make characters of various sexualities and genders. There are explicit sexual scenes (H-scenes / hentai scenes) in the game. The game has a passionate following of fans, including a strong modding community. The base game has been criticised for lacking trans representation and misrepresenting asexuality, as well as not including explicit same-gender sex scenes between men although there are same-gender sex scenes for women and opposite-gender sex scenes; however, the modding community has created ways of at least partially addressing these issues.
