Mortal Kombat X features Kung Jin, the first gay character in the series. A scene during a flashback includes Raiden telling Kung Jin that 'they care only of what is in your heart, not whom your heart desires', which was confirmed by cinematic director Dominic Cianciolo as a subtle nod to Kung Jin's sexuality.
