The world of the Shadowrun series is littered with characters of diverse sexualities and genders, normalised as NPCs and side characters that you encounter on your adventures. Queer backstories allow you to understand why characters respond to situations in particular ways. Although romantic relationships of all sorts are limited in Returns due to the game's focus on family bonds, there are a number of same-gender relationships referenced in Dragonfall.
