A House of Many Doors

A glowing orb in the middle of the room with rocks around it. A menu with heading 'The Noddy Doctors'.
Interestingly, this game featured a fairly close house to door ratio, in that I didn’t come across many of either of them. Okay, maybe that isn’t interesting, but in my defense, I struggled with this game.

I did enjoy the character creation, which, along with allowing you to customize your backstory, has you choosing a ‘reflection’ for your character rather than forcing you to choose pronouns. All dialogue directed towards you comes from a second person point of view, so you aren’t gendered at any point during the game – you can be whoever you want to be. A game that doesn’t unnecessarily make you choose a binary gender? No! Impossible! It can’t exist! Only, it does, and here it is. It’s reflective of some clever writing overall, even though the story as a whole was hard to stay on top of. Individual moments were enjoyable, but overall I was just a little confused and bored by some of the mechanics of this RPG.

You should play this if…

You don’t mind a lot of reading and are willing to read between the lines a little to suss out the plot of a game. This definitely isn’t one for people who like fast-paced action, but It’s good for those looking for a bit of strategy and some interesting dystopian elements.
