Back in 2014 I downloaded this onto my phone with no clue about what it would be, and after a few months of screen tapping I managed to move on. The precursor to similar games by the likes of Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, and the younger Jenners, this app has you climbing the ranks of the modelling world. Really, all it has you doing is moving from place to place tapping bubbles and sort of progressing a story, but it managed to give me an odd sense of accomplishment. For a while, anyway. The “projects” it has you completing get harder as you go along (they take longer and require higher ‘style’) but it’s easy to forget that you had projects going at all. Less checking in then means you get fewer stars, which means your ranking goes down, and given it takes so long for your ranking to go up at all, it definitely stops feeling worthwhile. Even your relationship is ranked, and that ranking doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere. Maybe if the relationship was inherently rewarding that wouldn’t matter, but uhh… sorry fake Kim K Hollywood wife, our life together got stale real quick.
You should play this if…
You want to play a basic sim about how much work has to go into a career in the limelight. There are absolutely some fun bits to it – that’s why it’s reeled me back in more than once. When you’re making progress, it’s a fun way to kill time in breaks, but at that point where you plateau, the shine rubs off pretty thoroughly.
