Roundabout

Two femme looking people holding a skeleton. Game title screen.
Have you ever been in a car and thought ‘gosh, I just wish I felt more nauseous on this trip’? Because if you have, Roundabout has a suggestion for you. Just drive in continuous circles, even when all the other cars are going straight – it’ll be safe, I promise.

Only, no, it isn’t safe, it’s reckless and difficult and so many people die. The main character in this game, Georgio Manos, has a… quirky way of driving. As you career through the streets, constantly spinning, constantly running over the people that are (for some reason) running literally in front of your death machine, you pick up passengers in your limo that just want to be taken from point A to point B. One of these passengers, Beth, quickly falls for your strange habits and despite the fact that Georgio never opens her mouth, the two of you get quite close and start… dating? You never get to see the characters outside the FMV cutscenes that happen inside the limo, but she certainly seems to imply that your relationship extends beyond that. It’s a terrible, reckless, confusing relationship, but it’s also pretty cute, and this gameplay is a little wild.

You should play this if…

You’re better at this game than me, because I definitely wasn’t cut out to play anything like this. Or if you just want to play a game where you get to drive around, constantly spinning, feeling kind of bad about the many many people you’re murdering. Or not, your call.
