Take the Dream IX

Two femme people kissing.
I just… I came here to play a nice story about a brave lesbian rescuing her girlfriend, and instead I’ve come out the other side feeling confused and mildly terrified.

Take the Dream starts out as a classic RPG with some clever puzzles, but soon turns into some kind of nightmarish surreal experience that just left me staring at the screen blinking for a long time. I’m still blinking. Words can’t describe it, but despite the terror, I actually enjoyed myself as I navigated through this game’s many twists and turns. It was a short, unique experience, and if you have a few hours spare I’d actually recommend it – it was surprisingly impactful. Maybe not for entirely good reasons, but... certainly impactful.

You should play this if…

You’re okay with the occasional spooky image flashing across the screen as you play this RPG Maker game, and you’re ready to go on a wild journey that will give you very few answers. I’m being intentionally vague here, because I really think you need to embrace the confusion.
